The theme of September's Sketchbook Challenge is Homes and Hideaways. I had been meaning to finish a sketch I had started of McPherson's barn in Gettysburg. On July 1st, the barn was used to shelter Union soldiers from artillery fire and wounded men after the battle. The farm was destroyed during the battle.
The painting is tiny, about 4 1/2 inches square and was painted on scrap watercolor paper.
Amazing! You're a good drawer!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm trying to get better. I haven't drawn in awhile.
DeleteWell done.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was thinking of you today when I saw this garden ornament: http://craftsbyamanda.com/2013/09/watering-can-pours-crystals.html
DeleteI'm really glad you're drawing and painting again. I think you should really keep it up. Being able to see little things I miss when we are looking at something is something that always impressed me about you.
ReplyDeleteWhenever we're looking at CDVs, or battlefield pictures, or even at a building we're walking by, you always notice the little details. I see a woman in a dress. You see the style she's wearing, or how she has her hair done a peculiar way. I see a soldier posing for a portrait. You notice the awesome buttons on his jacket.
When it comes to things like this, you are Holmes and I am your Watson. :)
